What would be the maximum possible size of a computer's instruction see, if it were based on a processor with a (a) 4-bit. (b) 8-bit, and (c) 16-bit word size?

The direct addressing capacity of a processor is found by calculating 2A where A is the address width. Indirect addressing capacity is found by calculating 22A Therefore,

(a) 2A = 16  instructions

(b) 28 = 256    instructions

(c) 216 = 65536  instructions
